The witch hunts resulted in mass paranoia and state-sanctioned persecution of women. As healers and midwives, the “witch” held alternative medical knowledge about sexual reproduction. Today, witchcraft challenges institutionalized religion, confronts corruption, and is used as a method for inner empowerment and strength.
