Feminist Pride Day, celebrated on March 8 (International Women’s Day) is a call to arms for young people who recognize the need to fight for gender equality. Originally called Feminist Coming Out Day, the campaign started at Harvard University when a queer student group and a feminist club teamed up for a public awareness campaign, event series, and art exhibition. The popularity of the project spread to other campuses as more and more students identified with the ideas behind it. In March 2011, the campaign went national, with events taking place in over 15 universities across North America.
Today, the project has been incorporated into the Feminist Majority Foundation’s campus programs.
